Another stunning color for the Tropical series of canna from seed. This extra-dwarf plant offers big, beautiful blooms of orange-tinged red, so eye-catching you will spot them from down the street. And all of this on a plant compact enough to put in a container beside the driveway or pool.

The same big, fiery-scarlet blooms arise on Tropical Red as on the more familiar giant cannas, but without the lush, often overgrown-looking habit. This columnar, vase-shaped 2½-foot-high plant stays neat and tidy all season, offering a profusion of huge, paddle-shaped green leaves held densely upright. Wow. What a difference—and it never needs pruning or shaping.

But the best part may be that Tropical Red blooms in just 90 days from seed—quick, economical, and so beautiful. The bright blooms begin in midsummer and continue into fall (all the way to frost in some climates, and even into winter in subtropical zones), for year after year of enjoyment.

Space plants 18 inches apart in full sun and well-drained soil amended with organic matter. Canna loves moist, damp, even wet soils, and doesn’t mind poor fertility or high sand/clay content. Great for boggy areas.
