A freely flowering dwarf selection, Weigela Prism Magic Carpet is a deciduous shrub offering 3 seasons of interest, blooming heavily in showy pink flowers from late spring through early summer. Its gracefully arching branches are dense with small-sized color-changing leaves that phase from chartreuse to warm orange and apricot tones. Borne in clusters, the bright tubular flowers attract bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds.
A freely branching woody ornamental shrub, Prism Magic Carpet has a bushy, compact-rounded habit and rapid growth rate. It is an excellent specimen in garden or container but is shown to best effect when grouped or massed in beds, borders, and landscapes. And it’s a natural for pollinator gardens.
Cold hardy, easy to grow, and low maintenance, weigela prefers average, medium moist, well-drained soil and full sun to part shade, but best flowering is in full sun. The shrub can be pruned immediately after flowering to maintain a desired shape and size. It is deer resistant.
